General Skimming

Provides a smooth flat surface for either:

  1. Painting / Emulsioning
  2. Decorating / Wallpaper

Please note: This is applied at approximately 2-3mm thick and does not straighten the existing wall. A suitable background plaster would be applied first.

Dri-wall

The process of mixing powdered adhesive and applying this to either the wall or the reverse of the plasterboard, the board is then pushed firmly onto the wall and straightened up by means of a spirit level. Not to be used in damp areas.

Plasterboarding / Plasterboards

  1. Brick or block work
  2. Screwed or nailed to existing ceiling joists
  3. Screwed or nailed directly onto new timber framework. Plasterboards come in many sizes to suit most jobs, has many uses and comes in different colours and can be very heavy to handle.
  4. Standard plasterboards / wall boards ideal for most internal plaster works
  5. Fire rated - fire resistant, especially designed for ceilings / partitions/to stairwells and for enclosing or boxing in steel RSJ's
  6. Soundbloc boards has a specially designed core to help muffle the transference of sound.
  7. Glasroc firecase board, non combustable - glass reinforced core giving up to 2 hours fire protection
  8. Duraline plasterboard 3 in 1 with built in fire restance, impact resistance and resists sound transference
  9. Moisture resistant boards, ideal in kitchen and bathroom areas
  10. Gypsum thermal basic boards, standard boards with added polystyrene thermal insulation attached to the reverse. Acts like a vapour barrier.
  11. High spec insulation celotex or kingspan, ideal for the newer type houses / extentions and loft conversions
  12. Standard quilted loft insulation comes as a triple pack various sizes and comes in 3 thickness’s 100mm / 170mm / 200mm. Ideal as a top up during wintertime.

Board finish used directly on to plasterboards

Multi finish can be equally used on plasterboards and backing plasters

Durafinish once dried and on completion becomes tougher and is more resistant to knocks and accidental damage

Magnetic plaster - please note very expensive but a fantastic idea to use in schools, offices and at home to display pictures and hang items. It's applied as a standard plaster to walls and ceilings can be painted over.

Internal Rendering

Traditional plastering method how it used to be, provides a tough solid background and is ideal in mild damp situations in the older terraced type properties. It needs a skim coat applied as a finish to allow for decoration to take place.

Ceilings fully removed / repaired or lowered

Typically the older type of properties are always a concern if renovations are taking place. There is usually a solution if the budget has been stretched on other projects. Please ask for advice should this be the case.

Existing artex ceilings and walls

Please under no circumstances whatsoever attempt to scrape or try to remove the patterned artex, there may be hazardous substances within the artex. In most cases this can be:

  1. Skimmed or plastered over
  2. Boarded over
  3. Completely hidden by the construction of a timber frame / studwork, plasterboarded and skimmed.

Plaster coving and ornamental coving

Comes in various lengths / sizes and has many designs, please ask advice, fitting service if required.

Damp / penetrating damp / damp proof membranes

SPECIALIST PLASTERS

ThistlePro pure finish plaster:

A finishing plaster that contains active air technology to help remove formaldehyde (a common v.o.c from the air helps make indoor air space healthier) Thistle Oricoat ThistlePro Pure finish contains active air technology, which decomposes formaldehyde emmissions into non harmful inert compounds.

Thistle Oricoat:

A cement based plaster with waterproofing additive intended for the replastering works after the installation of a successful damp proof course. It helps to restrict the transference of damp and contaminated salts and limits any detrimental effects on any internal decoration.
